Cooking class in a Berber village at 1960m altitude!<\/span><\/h2><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Your private driver and guide will pick you up in 4X4 at Riad Cocoon around 8.30 am. You will take the road of the Asni valley for a day of culinary discovery, breathtaking scenery and warm people. The first stop is the local Berber farmer’s market where you will choose vegetables, fruits and aromatic herbs. Once the shopping is done, you will go to the Berber house of Latifa, a talented cook.
\nUpon arrival you will be greeted with a traditional mint tea. Afterwards, you’ll get in action and prepare a delicious meal under Latifa’s guidance. You will learn how to bake bread, prepare a selection of Moroccan salads and a tagine of your choice. While the tagine is cooking, you can relax in the garden or take a walk in the nearby village. You will then enjoy, on the terrace, the lunch that you will have concocted yourself with a splendid view of the Atlas Mountains. Depending on the season you might participate in the work of ploughing as in the past. The return to Cocoon is scheduled around 5pm.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

You will leave Cocoon by 4X4 around 9.00 am toward of the Ourika valley where you will discover typical Berber markets: farmers and cultivators come to sell their products to the villagers, who can also go to get a haircut, cut their beard or pull a tooth! On Wednesdays (day without a market), you will visit the Berber Museum and the small souk of Asni. Children may come to meet you, so don’t hesitate to bring pens, notebooks (Arabic!) which will give them great pleasure.
\nOn the way, you will be able to make a 20 minutes ride on a camel ( dromedary in fact ) followed by a mint tea break in a Berber tent. This is an extra option to be paid directly to the camel driver. Then stop at the argan oil cooperative, to discover the manufacture of one of Morocco’s jewels. The cooperatives are run by women, which ensures them a salary and social status in rural areas.
\nLunch is taken in the house of a Berber family in the valley of Sidi Faress where you will be face to face with Mount Toubkal (4216m). Salads, soups, tajines and fruits adapt to the seasons as everything here is organic. A vegetarian menu can be arranged in advance if required. After the meal, you will take the road to the last valley, that of Asni, the kingdom of fruit trees and crops. The sceneries are unbelievable. Notice to photographers and walkers! The return to Riad Cocoon is scheduled for around 5 pm.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Visits to the Kasbahs of Telouet and A\u00eft Ben Habddou:<\/span><\/h2><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The first one, also known as the Glaoui Palace (Thami El Glaoui was its most famous inhabitant in the 20th century.), dates from the 18th century and is located near the small Berber village of Telouet, crossroads of the passage of the caravans and close to important salt mines.<\/p>\n

The second, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located not far away (south of T\u00e9louet) and enjoys a strategic position. It still has a foundouk. The wadi Maleh, or ‘salt river’ has given the name to this place ‘Mont-Saint-Michel des Chleuhs’ (Berber ethnic group of southern Morocco).<\/p>\n
