Riad Cocoon is a traditional house in the medina, completely rebuilt and reinterpreted with a contemporary sensibility.

Moroccan architecture, tadelakt, antiques, works of art and musical references make up the charm of a personal house with only five rooms.

Around the patio, the lounge-library with fireplace, the plunge pool and terraces invite to live the riad throughout the hours and seasons. This discreet luxury, made of noble materials and custom-made attention, is never displayed—it is felt.

Rare for an address in the heart of the medina: Riad Cocoon is accessible by car up to 100 meters from its door.

A few steps from the Médersa Ben Youssef, the Museum of Marrakech, the House of Photography and souks, Riad Cocoon allows you to fully discover the medina before finding behind its door, the quiet and privacy of the house.

Art echoing music

The artworks displayed at Riad Cocoon form a deeply personal collection. From Pierre and Gilles to Robert Mapplethorpe, they echo the great figures of music who inspire the world of the five rooms.

Photographs, contemporary artworks, antiques, and one-of-a-kind objects are far more than mere decorative elements. Each has been chosen as much for its beauty as for the stories it tells.

Music inspires the identity of Riad Cocoon without ever taking center stage. It has given its name to the five rooms and reveals itself in subtle touches, through the artworks, objects, and playlists throughout the house.

The Story of Riad Cocoon

From a very young age, music has held an essential place in my life. Before Marrakech, I worked in advertising, radio, television, and the press — all the while remaining an self-confessed music groupie!

I had known Marrakech for many years and returned regularly. It was here that the idea took shape: to create a home that would bring together my love of Morocco, music, art, and objects with a story to tell.

It all began in July 2007, with a riad in ruins.

It had to be completely demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. Over the course of two and a half years, Riad Cocoon gradually took shape, until it opened its doors in January 2010. The journey was not always easy, but it was well worth it.

Since opening in January 2010, Riad Cocoon has remained true to the spirit of its beginnings: an intimate and unique place, shaped by my love of music, art, and meaningful encounters.

Over the years, our guests from all over the world have also become part of the story of Riad Cocoon. Some discovered it at the beginning of a new chapter as a couple, others while travelling with family or friends. Many have returned over the years, sometimes with their children, and have stayed in touch with us long after their stay.

That is perhaps what touches me most: knowing that they choose not only to return to Marrakech, but also to return to Riad Cocoon.
