Over years spent in Marrakech, I’ve come to know the city, the Atlas Mountains, and the Moroccan south — but more than that, I’ve come to know the people who show them properly.
I’ve mapped out the routes, built relationships, and handpicked experiences that go beyond the usual sightseeing. Now I put that knowledge to work for my guests, matching each escape to what they’re after, at their own pace.
Touring Marrakech with an official guide, cooking at Latifa’s in a Berber village, crossing the Atlas Mountains valleys by 4×4, losing yourself in the Agafay desert, following the kasbah route, or seeing Marrakech from the sky at dawn… every experience opens up Morocco a different way.

What Riad Cocoon arranges has little to do with the standard packages sold online, or offered to you on every street corner in Marrakech.
With the one exception of the balloon flight, everything is private, genuine, and built entirely around you — your pace, your interests, whatever you’re actually after.
We work exclusively with local partners we’ve trusted for years. They don’t just drive you around: along the way, they share, with real passion, their knowledge of Morocco, its history, its culture, its traditions.
Chosen for their professionalism, their experience, and their reliability, they look after your comfort and safety throughout — while still leaving plenty of room for chance encounters and the unplanned.
This day pairs a Moroccan cooking class at Latifa’s with a genuine cultural discovery of the Berber villages of the Atlas Mountains — their markets, their daily life.
Your driver-guide collects you from Riad Cocoon around 8:30am, and you head by 4×4 to a village sitting nearly 2,000 metres up.
Depending on the day, you might stop at a large Berber souk to choose the vegetables, fruit and herbs that will go into the meal.
Deeply woven into local life, this market looks much as it must have for generations. Far from the souks of Marrakech, you’ll see trades, gestures, faces — and sometimes make encounters you won’t forget. A rare glimpse into rural Moroccan life.
From there, you reach Latifa’s house. She welcomes you with mint tea and Moroccan pancakes, then invites you to roll up your sleeves. Alongside her, you learn to make bread, a few Moroccan salads, and a tagine.
While it cooks, relax in the garden or wander the village. The lunch you made is then served on the terrace, facing the Atlas Mountains.
Return to Riad Cocoon is around 5pm.
This private day by 4×4 crosses the Ourika, Sidi Fares and Asni valleys — Berber villages, mountain roads, terraced fields, orchards.
Depending on the day of the week, the route may include a local market. Your driver-guide adapts the itinerary and the stops so you can take in the landscapes and village life.
Lunch is served at Latifa’s, facing the Atlas Mountains peaks. Moroccan salads, soup, tagine and fruit follow the season. A vegetarian meal can also be arranged on request.
After lunch, the road continues through the Asni valley. Return to Riad Cocoon is around 5pm.
The Agafay desert is a reg — a stone desert, arid and mineral. Under an hour from Marrakech, it’s the closest thing to the desert without the long journey to the Sahara.
Several experiences can be arranged there: a private buggy outing on the tracks, a camel ride, lunch or dinner at a camp, especially at sunset.
Because our experiences are private, nothing is fixed. We can shape the activities, the pace and the timing to what you want, then put it all together into an escape that’s entirely yours — back at Riad Cocoon that same evening.
An overnight stay at a carefully chosen camp can also be arranged on request.
On the far side of the High Atlas Mountains, the Kasbah of Telouet and the Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou tell part of the story of southern Morocco and its old caravan routes.
Once the residence of the Glaoui, the Kasbah of Telouet still holds, behind its walls, remarkable architecture and decoration.
Further south, the Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, unfolds as a striking example of traditional earthen architecture.
A day for anyone drawn to architecture, landscape, and places steeped in history.
Well before sunrise, a driver collects you from Riad Cocoon by 4×4 for the launch site.
Little by little, the light reveals the landscape around Marrakech and, on a clear day, the peaks of the Atlas Mountains. The silence and the slow drift of the flight offer an entirely different way to take in the region.
Our partner charges more than many other operators in Marrakech, and it’s a choice we stand by fully. Their experience, the quality of what they offer, and the rigour of their organisation make all the difference.
Because your safety isn’t negotiable, we’ve chosen a partner whose professionalism meets our standards, fully.
The balloon flight is the only experience on this page that may be shared with other travellers. Sunrise flights are in high demand, so it’s best to book well ahead.
With an official guide, the medina reveals itself differently. Its history, its architecture, its traditions, the work of its craftsmen — all of it takes on new depth.
The visit is shaped around what interests you: a first taste of Marrakech, heritage and architecture, artisans, gardens, photography, or an accompanied shopping trip.
This isn’t a fixed programme to follow — it’s the city at your own pace, with time enough to understand what’s behind its doors, its alleyways, its traditions.
Other experiences can be arranged on request: a day in Essaouira, exploring the Ourika valley, an escape to Ouarzazate, or an accompanied shopping trip in Marrakech.
Let us know what you’re after. We’re always here to advise based on what interests you, and to arrange, with the same care, your outings, your excursions, your transfers and your taxi rides.
